When getting your everyday items together, try to imagine all the scenarios you might encounter. Need to make quick cuts or open a bottle? A multitool should serve nicely. Need to transfer files often? Don’t forget to pack a USB drive. And if you get a flat tire at night, you’ll need a light source to make a repair. Your smartphone’s flashlight should be a last resort, as you may need to conserve battery life to contact roadside assistance.

Alternatively, a dedicated flashlight can be handy whenever you stumble in the dark, whether hiking or making home repairs. It should also be small and light enough to make it easy to carry. One option is this 2,200-lumen ED20 flashlight by Nextorch, which is on sale for $30.

The ED20 features a compact design measuring just under five inches long by 1.4 inches wide, allowing you to slip it into your pocket or purse easily. The body is composed of an aluminum alloy with a tough, anodized finish, giving it one meter of impact resistance for sudden drops. It’s also IPX7 water-resistant up to a meter deep, making it suitable for fishing or camping trips. And yet, the flashlight is exceptionally lightweight, weighing 100 grams without its rechargeable 4,200mAh battery.

This flashlight only has a single button to streamline its operation. Click it to cycle through three intensity modes offering 2,200, 530 and 25 lumens, respectively. Or, you can activate the strobing pattern for emergencies. At maximum brightness, the ED20 delivers up to three hours of runtime, but you can conserve the battery by switching to its lowest setting, which provides up to 120 hours of longevity.

You might not use a flashlight often, but you may be glad to own one when the sun goes down. You can purchase the ED20 2200-Lumen USB Rechargeable Flashlight for $30, down from $35.
